Revelations

In July, I wrote about Audioslave's release of "The Original Fire" from their then upcoming album Revelations. At the time, I said it wouldn't reach my playlist and get regular play time. Heh. I lied.

Revelations was released this past Tuesday, and being a good consumer, I bought the majority of songs off iTunes. In retrospect, I should've bought the album… but I've long since learned you never buy an album unless you know exactly what you're getting (and I didn't… I just bought songs according to the 30 second blurb iTunes offers).

This album, of course, has a different feel and sound than the past releases (its fun-kay); but elements from their previous albums (and bands) still shines through. And unlike Out of Exile, the majority of songs off Revelations can be singles. Really. Its good, and this is coming from a diehard Rage Against the Machine fan (give me hard, rocking riffage!).

If you're a Tom Morello fanboy like me, you won't be disappointed. He's still kicking his unique play style.

To sum up, Revelations may be the band's best effort yet. I still have my favorites from the previous two albums, but this album, as a whole, is much better than the others.
