Starla got me a GuitarPort for Christmas. I've always wanted one since we have no room for my amp. One of the great features of this software/hardware is the amount of sounds and tones you can come up with. I was playing around trying to find a warm tone to play some solos with, and I happened across a tone that I loved. I tweaked the reverb a bit, and got a sound that I liked.
If you don't have room for an amp, but you've got room for a 'puter and guitar, check out this solution. It doesn't sound as good as the real thing, but it's close.
