The holidays are over, and it's time to get back into the groove of things. I woke up this morning not wanting to get up (go figure). I could tolerate a few more days off, but unfortunately that's not going to happen.
I finally joined the SATA ranks a few days after Christmas. Now, I've heard horror stories of getting WindowsXP installed on a SATA drive. I heard it's hell. All I can ask is: "Are you on crack?" Setting up WindowsXP on a SATA drive was simple; the only difference is installing a driver for your SATA controller during setup (you know, that point in the installation where it says to press F6 to install a third party RAID or SCSI controller). I pulled the driver from the mobo CD, plugged up my USB floppy, and it worked fine. But then again, I do this stuff for a living.....
I did get a few things (read: one thing) completed over the holidays: I started up the reading of
Nicholas Zakas' book
Professional JavaScript that is going to come out later this year. I'm through chapter 13, and I love this book. Zakas has a thorough understanding of JavaScript, and does a very good job of explaining the language. I've read many JavaScript books, and this one is the best by far. It will replace my loved
JavaScript Bible as reference. If you use JavaScript, get this book!
My biggest regret is not getting to see some friends that came into town. The holidays are always busy, and I can't ever seem to get the stuff I want done. One of them lives down in Houston, so hopefully I'll get to see him when we're down there in a few months.
I hope your holidays went well. Mine did; now it's time to get back to work. <sigh />
