New Design, New Code, New Widgets

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally to the point where I can implement the new design. It kind of went through a drastic change last weekend, but I'm pleased with it. Hell, for a non-designer, I'm stoked about it. I also used the Segoe UI font that's used in Longhorn; tahoma is the backup font. I actually have no idea what it looks like in Tahoma, but I'll find out tomorrow at work. If it sucks, it'll be changed.

As Tim pointed out to me last week, I haven't blogged in quite some time; you can thank my laziness for that (yo, Tim! iFAD!). A while back, I started to migrate to SQL instead of using static XML documents for my blog. Doing so will allow me to do some pretty spiffy stuff (SQLXML, anyone?). Naturally, the admin proggie I built needed the update first, so I finished and uploaded it. After I updated the rest of the site's code, I realized that there were other changes I made last month that would break a good deal of the site if I went ahead and uploaded it (mainly the DHTML API section, as I'm doing away with it). I didn't want to upload code and only have one DHTML widget available (which I ended up doing anyway), so I thought I'd finish the XWebMenu re-rewrite and the new design before uploading the new code.

Sometimes, I forget just how lazy I am.

Needless to say, the XWebMenu re-rewrite is finished; I'm just working on the documentation to go with it. I'm aiming for this week, as I know some want to use it (Foo was gracious enough to use it in his redesign). It's coming, folks. There's also another widget coming down the pipe that I started for Foo. That'll be here hopefully next week.

This redesign reaffirmed what I have been saying for about a year: IE is the new NS 4.x. An article is coming on the subject. I've also started an article on my philosophy of CSS and how I use it.

Hmmm, I think I just forgot how lazy I am again.
