Dawn of Victory

I hate heavy metal. I grew up in that era, but there’s just something about the heavy metal genre that I despise. Anyhow, thanks to Foo’s post on funny linkage, I have this heavy metal song Dawn of Victory racing through my head (hear it here; watch the video, too).

Specifically, I have the 16th note rhythm racing through my head. I'm a musician by talent. My instrument of choice is the guitar, but I can play quite a few instruments. I'm no dummy when it comes to music, but I have no idea how someone can hit a consistent 16th note rhythm with the bass drum at this tempo with only two feet. At first, I thought it may be the bass guitar doubling the guitar (which it is doing), but when I heard a clean copy (the lower registers in that video are muddied together) it's pretty clear that it's the bass drum. Wow! I'm very thankful I'm not the drummer, or we'd be doing a 1 song show.

Thanks, Foo. Now I've got to drench myself in good music to get this out of my head (1 day and counting).
