It's That Time Of Year

E3! Enough said, right? Nah! *grins*

There are three games I've been looking forward to seeing in action at E3:

Halo 2. I cannot wait! I didn't have an XBox until Christmas, so my experience with Halo is strictly from the PC. The game is good, as I stated at its release. Since it took years to hit the PC, it was merely just evolutionary (as opposed to the revolutionary status it should have been before MS picked up Bungie). The destructable vehicles in Halo 2 could be a revolutionary step in gaming. It's not the fact that they are destructable, but the realism of how well they are controlled when they take damage. I can't think of any game that sports this feature. This will definately add to the game. Vehicle-jacking will be a fun pastime, the missle lock is a much needed feature, and the dual wielding will be awesome.

Half Life 2. What can I not say? The engine looks fantastic! It is a beautiful game. The physics are awesome. I want this game now!

KOTOR 2. While I am a bit disappointed in the choice of time period, I am still looking forward to this game. I wanted a KOTOR 2, but I wanted it in another time period of the Old Republic. I thought BioWare did a great job of ending KOTOR 1, and any followup to the existing story would be tough.

There is a downside, it seems. Every game I am looking forward to is a sequel. Over the past 2 years, I have grown weary of sequels. Jedi Knight 2 and UT2K3 were mediocre at best. JK2 had tons of potential, but a slew of bad decisions (starting from the engine choice) and a horrible dev team doomed the game. UT2K3 just didn't bring anything new to the table except newer/updated graphics and physics. I'm afraid my 3 picks will fall into the same category. I truely hope I am wrong.
