Painkiller

I just happened across this little title today. Since I don't game near as much as I used to, I'm a bit behind on the games coming out (except the big name titles). Painkiller is nothing short of phenomenal from a technical standpoint. The graphics are spectacular, and the physics.... oh! the physics!

The gameplay is a bit redundant, however. Aside from the typical run-n-gun, it seems you cannot go onto the next stage of the level before you kill all the baddies (which stinks). Granted, this is just a demo, but single play will get very dull.

Since the demo does not include a multiplayer component, all I am left with is a sense of awe with the technology behind it. The Havok engine just adds so much to the game, and it's a bit satisfying when I shoot a stake at a baddie on a high ledge and it falls naturally to the ground (or becomes impaled thanks to the wall behind it).

Unfortunately, I probably won't be spending my money on this game. I'm just not too big into the whole demonic imagery; but if someone makes a mod that's worth playing, I'll be buying the game for the mod (yes, the engine is that good).
