Finally, a "new" game that I continue to play over and over again. Sure, it's just the demo, but Onslaught has me hooked and Epic has restored my faith in their ability to keep a very worthy franchise alive. Honestly, I could've lived without UT2K3 in favor of getting 2k4 out to us at an earlier time. While 2K3 offered another game for me to play, it just didn't feel like UT. 2K4 still feels a little Quakish, but at least it isn't staring me in the face and telling me "Hey, you're playing Quake with translocators! like 2K3 does. I'm anxious to get my hands on more Onslaught maps; this game type is just awesome.
I think my favorite new weapon is the mine launcher. I can't begin to count the times those little spidy mines saved a particular powernode from going down. It is one of the most inventive weapons I've seen. I just wish they lasted longer.
CTF is still the same. I just hope the level designers pack this game with awesome maps. Citadel in 2K3 was a nice map and ranks high up on my list of "best maps of all time". Surely the designers can pull together several maps that I like.
I haven't played any bombing run games yet. I couldn't really get myself interested in that particular gametype in 2K3. It'll be interesting if Epic adds anything to gametype.
DM is, well, DM. I wish it was standard to have the translocator in DMs as they add a completely different dimension to the game. Perhaps I'll try to find a server that offers it.....
It seems as though I will be buying this game. I bought 2K3 in hopes that it would quell my thirst for a good, competitive game; but it fell short. I'm hoping 2K4 will give that to me.
